Overview
Day 1 Trekking – overnight jungle camp (L, D) First, walk around the old feeding platform area of orangutan where you might spot some semi-wild orangutans peering down at you from the trees. Continue to walk 6-7 hours deeper into the park. It is not a flat walk but involves some ascents and descents. A bit hard but in return, you get a very nice experience. You have big chances to see gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, longtail and pigtail macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatra peacocks, and hornbills. A wild orangutan might cross your way. Your guide will explain to you many things about the rainforest. And he will show you many different kinds of plants and flowers. Your campsite is an authentic and basic camp. Tents are bamboo shells covered with tarpaulins stretched over a branch. The front and back of the tent are so open, but offering adequate protection against the rain. A real jungle camp! Your guides will cook delicious local food for you. Enjoy the evening times at your jungle camp with playing cards or sitting around the campfire with your guides. Day 2 Trekking ends (B,L) In the morning you might be wake up by the magical sound of the jungle. Unforgettable jungle experience! Breakfast at the camp. Today is the final trek of your rainforest adventure. You still have ca 4 hours walk to experience the rainforest. Return to Bukit Lawang and free at leisure.
