Overview

Explore and hike in one of the world's oldest rainforest. Spend two nights camping in the mystical Rainforest, at the sounds of millions of insects. Be prepared for this adventurous journey in Taman Negara, the largest protected area in Malaysia, spanning 4343 square km. -:-:-DAY 1-:-:- In the morning, after an earthy breakfast, check out and store the extra luggage at the lodge. At the lobby, meet with our guide, and after a short briefing and dividing the food, water and camping equipment to carry along, start the trek to the Kumbang Hide. A light lunch will be given enroute to the Kumbang Hide. The Kumbang Hide is a popular spot for animal observation with frequent sightings of Malayan Tapirs, Wild Boars, Sambar Deers, and occasionally wild Asian Elephants. Once at the Kumbang Hide, you will set camp for the night. A sleeping mat, sleeping bag, and tent will be provided. A camp dinner will be served in the evening. -:-:-DAY 2-:-:- Wake up at the sounds of the birds and the call of the gibbons. After breakfast, help the guide to dismantle the camp, and begin the second day, with a trekking to Gua Kepayang caves, about 6 kilometres from the camp site. Enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by tropical rainforests. If lucky, spot some small wild creatures on your journey to Gua Kepayang. Gua Kepayang are actually 2 caves: Gua Kepayang Kecil & Gua Kepayang Besar (literally translated to 'Small Kepayang Cave' & 'Big Kepayang Cave') and only accessible on foot. These caves are often visited by wildlife and it is common to spot animal footprints as well as elephant droppings in the area, especially around the big cave. Arrive at Gua Kepayang, and set up the camp for the night. The guide will cook the lunch and the dinner. -:-:-DAY 3-:-:- After a hearty camp breakfast, your adventure takes you on a trek to Kuala Keniam. Upon reaching Kuala Keniam, meet up with your boatman for a river cruise back to Kuala Tahan, the main gateway to Taman Negara. Enroute to Kuala Tahan, stop by an Orang Asli Settlement to learn more about these nomadic tribe, native of Peninsula Malaysia. Due the nomadic habit, sight of the natives is not always guaranteed. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to the lodge or to Kuala Tahan jetty to continue the journey to your next destination. -:-:-NOTE-:-:- You will be required to carry your camping equipment during the trek (including tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping tent, water) as the guide will need to bring other conventional equipment (such as food and cooking equipment). The Kumbang Hide is just an animal observation hide and not able to be reserved. Due to this, the Kumbang Hide may be full by the time you arrive. In such cases, you will make camp in a separate Trenggan campsite. For this property, prices are on request. Please contact your Account Manager for further details.
